Get Ready, Get Set….

The world is a small place, we say. But even this “small” world, is colossal within. We struggle much to get things, some of which we actually get and some of which only remain among aspirations. What we really want, nay, need in life, is again a topic that’ll keep you thinking for days. This is the thing that determines if we triumph in life.

We see great personalities in the world. Come to think of it, the position they are in seems to be like something we could only imagine in our dreams. We all have that moment when we watch a movie, a famous interview, or even a documentary, that suddenly it ignites you into doing something different and spontaneous. But that particular hunger dies within a few hours, or even minutes. That’s the mistake we make. We get so much inspired by something that lights a fire within us for a few minutes and then, we let it get completely washed away from within us.

Speaking of inspiration, my mom always said, “Aim for the highest. Even if you can’t reach the highest, you’ll still land somewhere in the middle”. Disheartening? yeah you may feel so. At least that’s what I felt when I first heard it from her. But let’s put some thought into it. If we aim for something so big that seems totally impossible to us right now, we start working for it. We start incorporating that thought in everything we do. We start picturing it and gradually, we start making it real. The thing that could only be imagined in the past is now a part of our reality, somehow. And even if we don’t get what we really wanted, we get something out of it and that “something” is out what many people could imagine. And who knows, whatever Bill Gates has achieved is also the same “something” to him. All you really need to succeed is the drive that you need to have.  To be what we call, a “great personality”, we’ve got to start thinking like one. We’ve gotta start thinking what the other seven billion wouldn’t.

Live your life, hustle up, defeat your mundane mind and as your Nikes would say, “Just Do It.”

Confidence? What I feel about it…

These are some of the genuine and practical facts I've learnt from myself so far....

Love yourself: Did you ever notice that when you wear a great outfit to work or your school, you feel a lot more confident than the day when you dress in your routine trousers and shirt? Well it’s just a matter of how YOU feel about yourself, not others. Like yourself.  Feel good. There’s no one quite like you.

Don’t get too hung up on your looks: Did you know that dressing every day in a perfect way is totally fruitless? That’s right. Everyone one you meet daily, your boss, colleagues, friends or even the elevator guy you run into on your way to work has already painted a portrait of you in their head and every time that person sees you, he has the same impression of your looks as the first day he saw you. Unless you get yourself a makeover every day, nobody will notice  the little flaws or details in your looks.

Learn to laugh at yourself:  You fall in front of a crowd. Now you have two options. You can either feel embarrassed, think what people thought about you  or you can laugh at yourself and quickly stand up and make your way. Yes, a few people may even laugh at you at first but when they see you laughing as well, the situation gets changed. Now everyone is not laughing at you, but they are laughing with you. There’s a huge difference between the two and when you actually learn to laugh at yourself, you will take your confidence to a level you probably never imagined.  Just take the word “embarrassing” out of your dictionary. You do not have to worry about being “”embarrassed”” in front of any one.

Dress to impress yourself: Out of all the people in the world, it is more difficult to impress yourself than anybody else. If you haven’t realized it till now, you will someday. Wear the outfit you yourself feel good in. Once you are impressed by yourself,  you can’t be intimidated by others.  Make yourself see how amazing you are.

Give yourself a chance! :: Again, the key to having a great confidence is to feel good about yourself.  Love yourself.   Know what you are good at. One you do this, no power in the world can bring you down.

Let people see that you are happy with yourself: Confidence goes downhill when you let your weaknesses bother you. Learn about your weakness, accept it, but never let It bother you. Also let people see that you are happy with whoever you are. A great personality does not come from great looks, it comes from the side of you that is visible to the people around.

Have your stand, be focused and be determined: Once you resolve on something, always try to make it your target and let nothing else bother you. You should have that clear image of the person you wanna be in the future. There will be thousands of people in your life who will say thousands of things and it is up to your judgment as to how much to grab and how much you ignore. But whatever you do, never ever lose the path. Because you my friend,  have a lot to do.

Do you have a leader in you?

Leadership matters. It has become one of the key traits people search for in a competent and deserving personality. Many perceptions can arise while speaking about leadership.  I opine that these are the qualities a leader must possess.

Source of inspiration: A leader should be the source of inspiration to all the team mates. He should be able to motivate them and keep up the team spirit. The efforts of the team members should be appreciated. You remember how it was to be praised by the teacher in the fourth grade didn’t you? Well it’s the same feeling when you grow up. As a leader, you should make your team mates feel that their hard work and efforts is recognized.

Honesty: Being a leader is all about the ability to bind the team and take appropriate decisions in order to attain the objectives. The team loyalty and sincerity can only be enhanced through a strong foundation of trust. The leader should be honest with the team members in order to gain their trust.

Decisiveness: A leader should be able to take proper decision wherever necessary. He should be able to take decisions for the team and do it confidently. After all, that’s what he’s assigned for. However, all the team members should have say in it as well.

Ability to delegate: There are numerous tasks that the team needs to perform and obviously, the work is to be done by all the members of the team and not just the team leader. The leader should be able to delegate the tasks to the team members according to their skills, expertise and the nature of the task. If a member finds a task that is more suitable to him, he enjoys doing it and the efficiency is increased. The leader should trust the team and learn to make the most out of the skills of the team members.

Unity: Everyone in the team should feel equally important. If the team members feel left out from the team, they start losing interest and the team starts falling apart. The leader should be open about the job and the tasks needed to be performed by them and the leader should ensure that there is participation of all the team members.

Communication: Leaders should be able to share his ideas with effective communication. Remember, not communication but  “effective communication”. If you have a crystallized idea in your mind but cannot express it in front of the people, it is near to being useless. A leader should be able to have effective communication skills, meaning that only blabbering in front of a bunch of people is not enough. He should make the people understand the idea he shares with them.

Wider thought: In order to achieve something, the first step is to make a blueprint in your head. A competent leader should always have a broad thought. When you start thinking, the ideas start to shape up. This is one of the major and important traits of being a leader.

Confidence:  What makes you different from the rest of your team? It’s your confidence level. Showing great confidence makes you the backbone of the team. If you remain confident in different circumstances, you will keep the whole team calm and focused.
